Moving to Tumblr

My dear blog Dolls, I want to thank you so much for all your love and support over the past couple of years. I am not giving up my blog but with much prodding from some very wise people I am moving it all to tumblr. I hope you will come with me on this journey as I grow and evolve my brand and business. I hope to continue to inspire you and share with you all the things that make luxury a lifestyle and not a price tag. Once again I Thank You from the bottom of my heart and hope you will come along with me on this new endeavor!

You can follow me on Tumblr here!

Dreamy

Sometimes you stumble upon a photo of a room that just makes you gasp with surprise and awe. I found this dreamy little space on Pinterest, and tried to follow the link to get the whole story and insight into whomever lives here but it did not pan out. I imagine a very chic and artistic French woman ( or me ) lives here. I imagine that amazing spiral staircase leads to a stunning and feminine bedroom complete with a glam dressing filled with couture clothing and lots of sparkly jewels. I imagine she throws the most decadent and amazing dinner parties with other artists, designers and poets. Yes, I know I have a very vivid imagination and I think the real story of the person who lives here would probably be so much more interesting but for now a girl can dream can't she?

If you know anything about this photo or loft living space please leave me a comment!

The Duchess xoxo

Twin Beds

Good Morning Dolls!

In the next couple of weeks I will be having guests and you know what that means...... it's time to zhush up the guest rooms! The guest room that really needs the most zhushing is the smaller one with the twin beds. I  always love the idea and look of the twin beds because it's an opportunity for balance and symmetry and fun design. This room has had many looks over the years and when my niece moved in with us a few years back I painted the focal wall black, white and fuchsia stripes, which still remain. There is no time to repaint that wall so I will just have to work from that palette. I will post the finished result but in the mean time here are some rooms that I am taking inspiration from.

The Duchess xoxo

Greek Key

Whether you call it greek key or fret this pattern is everywhere in interiors right now. This design consists of  squares and other shapes connected at right angles. I find it especially splashy as a floor pattern or banding on pillows and draperies. The versatility of this pattern allows you to add it to any room or style of decor. Here are a few ways to apply it to your own home.

Have a beautiful day Dolls!

The Navy Sofa

I'm not sure why but my obsession for blue sofas is not waining. Ever since I purchased my beautiful Jonathan Louis sofa I seem to be seeing blue sofas everywhere, navy in particular. Last week I did a post about styling the sofa with different colors, textures and styles of pillows if you remember I used a navy sofa for the background. I decided that if I am obsessing over the navy sofa then so are some of you. Navy can work as a rich neutral and is such a great backdrop for so many colors. Some of my personal FAVES are hot pink, turquoise and chartreuse.  Here are 4 great choices ( priced high to low) that will appeal to all styles and all budgets.

Enjoy Dolls!

Sofa Styling

Happy Friday Dolls we made through another week!!

As a designer you are ALWAYS changing things around. So, whenever I have guests over they always comment on how much fun it is to come to my home as it never looks the same. Really a lot of the time I have just switched out the pillows and some accessories. You know of my vast and ever growing pillow collection so it really isn't that big of a deal! The other thing that seems to come up is the question of how many pillows to put on a sofa and should they all match? My answer and professional opinion is this........ mix or match, use pairs or not and depending on the look you want and the style of your sofa anywhere from 2- 5 pillows. ( more if you have a sectional) In a nutshell it is personal preference. The two rules of thumb that I always go by are all pillows must have feather/down inserts to give a high end feel and mix up the shape and sizes to create interest. I have styled one sofa three different ways to give you an idea.

Enjoy!

The Duchess xoxo

Adore This

I apologize Dolls for my short absence. Hope you will still stick in here with me, still dealing with family member health issues.

That said............

I love all the colorful, fun and perky pages of Adore Home Magazine and the current issue is no exception. If you are not familiar with this online shelter mag you must check it out! Ripe with fresh young talent and a passion for bright colors and pattern this Australian magazine never disappoints and is always a feast for the eyes. You know that I am a sucker for all things blue and white as well as hot pink and navy. So here are a few of my FAVE pages of their new issue but you must check out the entire spread here!

Thank you all for your continued love and support!

Love,
The Duchess xoxo

This pic is from an older issue but I still love it!

Artist Jennifer Moreman

I love the work of artist Jennifer Moreman and have featured  her paintings on my blog several times. So, today I was in for a treat when I saw some of her pieces on sale on ONE KINGS LANE. I love the rhythm and color palette of her chevron paintings and love even more that she uses metallic paint that just takes the entire piece to a whole new level. Make sure to check out her entire collection here.

Enjoy and have a FAB Tuesday!

Love,
The Duchess xoxo

I think this one is my all time FAVE but too bad for me someone else bought it!

Gorgeous Goodies

I was online searching for any gorgeous goodies that I cannot live without and stumbled upon some planters on Grandin Road sooo FAB that I just had to share them with you. Look at the graphic patterns and details on these babies I dare say they revival some other much more expensive planters by Mackenzie Childs.

Have a FAB weekend Dolls!

The Duchess xoxo
